11.01.22 - Community Forest Annual Report 2021

Anji Smith’s recent work with the Community Forest was published with their 2021 Annual Report.

Although Anji’s photographic roots are steeped in the fine art B&W photography and printing, her interest in travel and underwater photography fuel her passion for visual storytelling.

Since 1984 Anji has worked and exhibited internationally before relocating to Powell River to surround herself in the natural beauty of landscape and ocean.  Anji is a principle at DNA and a Community Forest photographer.

04.06.21 - green room garden

Greenroom Garden & Design was looking for a fresh start to their online appearance and reached out to dna.RM.  The talented and dynamic duo Erin Sage and Andre Koekemoer were looking for a way to present their projects and services that was both informative and visually appealing.

All the photos are Erin’s – what a great eye for landscape & architecture. The site had to offer a completely self managed solution for them to advertise and to work their design services online.

06.01.20 - Davis Bay

Davis Bay Series

This B&W series of photographs were taken of ‘davis bay’ on the sunshine coast last january with a vintage Rollieflex on 120 ilford film.  They were printed using traditional analogue processes.
After spending this past autumn fine tuning the chemistry to achieve the look I was after for larger 16*20 prints, this is my take of a spectacular moment at ‘davis bay’ as the world frolics about on a brilliant January morning.
This series will be exhibited at Redecor + Design in Sechelt, BC, Canada from January 9th to February 6th, 2020.

  • FOTO FACTS

Zone system : is the method of determining exposure and development required for individual scenes, invented by Ansel Adams. It is based on analysis of subject luminosities in terms of ten gray tones, labeled zones 0 through X and previsualizing them as print densities. By measuring each subject luminance with a hand meter it is possible to determine how much the range of values must be contracted or expanded by negative development control to give the required values in the print.

  • Deoxyribonucleic Acid [DNA]

Deoxyribonucleic acid is a molecule that encodes the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all known living organisms and many viruses. DNA and RNA are nucleic acids; alongside proteins, they compose the three major macromolecules essential for all known forms of life.
